Jan loves Jesus, her husband Dee, and their two amazing kids, both homeschool and SGA grads! She has been teaching in some form or fashion for over two decades. Jan holds a bachelor of arts and a master of science in Speech-Language Pathology. She worked as a speech therapist in the public school system in Mississippi before moving to Georgia in 1993 to work in outpatient rehab for Egleston Children’s Hospital. In 1998, she went into private practice and then became a full-time homemaker/home educator in 2006. She is passionate about teaching, with a tender heart for those with learning differences. Jan loves sharing about homeschooling, mentoring young leaders, and encouraging families and is delighted to have the opportunity to pursue all those areas as Director at SGA.

Heather has been married to her husband, Kevin since 1994. They have 5 active children she has been home schooling since 2001. Before children, she was a real estate agent but the Lord allowed her to come home when her first child was born. She enjoys the opportunity to serve the SGA families and share her love of homeschooling. She loves the beach and takes any chance to visit! She also enjoys reading and playing games. Heather and Kevin are active members of First Baptist Loganville. Heather’s favorite thing is to spend time with her family! More often than not, you will find her at a basketball, football, baseball, or softball game watching her kids play ball!
Karen and her husband, Steve, have been married since 1986 and have three wonderful children, Elizabeth, Anna, and Ben. Karen holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in elementary education from Furman University and a masters degree in early childhood education from Mercer University. At an early age, Karen felt God leading her to a career in teaching. She taught for ten years in the DeKalb and Gwinnett public schools. Steve and Karen homeschooled their children from kindergarten through high school. As the children have grown older and moved on to college and careers, Karen is excited to use her call to help and guide students at Scholars Guild Academy. She enjoys reading, animal watching, shopping with her daughters, visiting state parks and taking family trips.
Shelley has been married to her husband David, a Dekalb County and Walton County Firefighter, since 2001. They have 2 children, Avery and Kendall, whom she has been homeschooling since 2013. She has a BBA from Georgia State University with a focus in Management. Shelley worked as the Financial Assistant at Bright Beginnings Preschool for 10 years before the Lord called her to homeschool full-time. She is excited about her family becoming a larger part of the SGA community. In her free time, she enjoys serving at their church, reading, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Christy married her high school sweetheart, Rodney, in 1986. They have six beautifully unique children. Her fourth child, Elyott, was born with a rare neurological disorder and entered heaven the summer of 2014. They also adopted a precious daughter from Russia in May of 2009. Christy dreamed of being a teacher from the time she was a little girl. She graduated from University of Georgia with a degree in Early Childhood Education and taught at Loganville Primary School for 4 years. After their second child was born, she and Rodney were led to begin their path into homeschooling. Christy is so grateful for opportunity to be a part of SGA in the roles of both admin and teacher.
